About
Illustrator and media Artist

“My family’s American dream didn’t account for internet culture.”

Born in 1998 in Queens, NY, and raised in Forest Park, GA, Ruth Burotte (RUTAMFI) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans character design, public art, and immersive installations. With a BFA in Art & Technology from New World School of the Arts at the University of Florida, Ruth blends traditional watercolor with digital media, creating stylized works that explore identity, technology, and society.
Since 2018, she has played an integral role in Miami’s art scene, contributing to local and public art projects that reflect her humor and unique perspective.
Her work consistently challenges conventional archetypes by creating underrepresented characters, often Black and female, while engaging with themes such as bias, mental health, and generational trauma.
Ruth goes by her artist street name, “RUTAMFI” which is a play on words combining her full name, “Ruth Burotte-Tamfee” and Haitian Creole, which translates to “I’m female”.
