About
Multi-media Artist and Illustrator
Born in 1998 in Queens NY and raised in Forest Park, GA.
Ruth Burotte is a Miami-based, Haitian American emerging artist whose multi-disciplinary practice spans character design, public art, and immersive installations. With a BFA in Art & Technology from New World School of the Arts at the University of Florida, Ruth skillfully blends traditional watercolor techniques with digital mediums, creating stylized graphic works that explore themes of identity, technology, and society. Her background allows her to craft a variety of contemporary artworks, ranging from digital works to large-scale artistic installations. As of 2018, Ruth has become an integral part of Miami's local art scene, contributing to several local and public art projects that reflect her unique style and humor. Her work is driven by a desire to create underrepresented characters, often Black and female, subverting conventional archetypes while engaging with issues such as bias, mental health, and the impact of generational trauma. Ruth’s ability to craft diverse, immersive narratives has positioned her as one of the new voices shaping the future of Miami's art landscape.
Ruth also goes by her artist street name, “RUTAMFI” which is a play on words combining her full name, “Ruth Burotte-Tamfee” and Haitian Creole which translates to “I’m female”.
